1950 TALBOT LAGO BABY T 15 LB - Lot 27
1950 TALBOT LAGO BABY T 15 LB WITHOUT RESERVATION - Carte Grise de Collection - Chassis number 120232 - Factory built July 12, 1950. - Recent maintenance (2024): Cylinder head rebuilt, Wilson gearbox overhauled, new clutch (Ets Etient). Derived from the T 26 Lago Record, the Talbot Lago Baby T 15 LB takes its sedan-like body design and offers a smaller-displacement model. The powertrain consists of a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine with a hemispherical cylinder head and twin camshafts. Fuel is supplied by two Zenith carburetors. In this configuration, the engine develops 120 hp at 4,300 rpm. Transmission is via a Wilson-type preselective gearbox. Chassis 120232 left the workshop on July 12, 1950. History shows that it was delivered new in France to its first owner, a notary named Monsieur Thecten. After a period of use followed by a dry spell, the car was acquired in 1978 by a second owner based in the Grenoble region. He then undertook a mechanical and cosmetic overhaul to enable the vehicle to be used at marque events. The car was then passed on to his nephew, the current owner, who has continued to use it in the Talbot club. Externally, the bodywork is in good condition. The interior has retained its original beige leather upholstery, with a patina of use, and all interior equipment and accessories are present. The odometer shows 79,300 kilometers, a mileage consistent with the car's condition. To ensure reliable operation, the mechanics underwent various preventive repairs in 2024. These included rebuilding the cylinder head (replacing valves and guides), treating the fuel tank, and overhauling the ignition and carburetion system. On the transmission side, the clutch was replaced by Établissements Etient, and the preselective gearbox was overhauled by a specialist. Lastly, an exhaust system was installed and four new tires were fitted, respecting the original dimensions.
