Wine and spirits auctions, from Fontainebleau
Osenat’s Wine & Spirits department is based in Fontainebleau, at the Hôtel d’Albe. It offers bottles from private cellars, from the greatest appellations to exceptional vintages, to a growing number of French and international buyers.
Long held in the saleroom in Fontainebleau, the auctions now take place online on Drouot, several times a year: anyone can bid from anywhere, and lots are then collected at the Hôtel d’Albe or shipped. Each sale’s catalogue closes one month before the auction date.
The department is headed by Cédric Laborde, partner, with Zoé Beuzit, assistant. It works with Louise Adélaïde Sainderichin, wine and spirits expert.
Fine wines, rare vintages and collectible spirits
Each of our wine auctions brings together a careful selection of bottles:
- Bordeaux first growths and grands crus: Petrus, Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Latour, Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Ausone, Palmer…
- Burgundy, including Romanée-Conti.
- Sweet wines such as Château d’Yquem, and vintage Champagne such as Dom Pérignon.
- Large formats and old bottles: magnums, a Dame-Jeanne, 18th- and 19th-century bottles recorked at the château.
- Collectible whiskies: limited and numbered editions, from Johnnie Walker to Japanese single malts by Ichiro’s Malt.
Expertise committed to fighting counterfeits
Every bottle is examined with LAïS Wine, a firm specialising in the valuation and appraisal of wines and spirits. Its expert, Louise Adélaïde Sainderichin, is a court-appointed expert at the Orléans Court of Appeal, an expert with the FNEPSA and a member of the CEDEA. She is a member of Wine Fraud, an international expertise-sharing programme, whose resources she uses to keep fake bottles out of the auctions.
Fill level, label, capsule, cork, original wooden case, purchase invoices: every detail is checked and recorded in the catalogue. This transparency is what gives buyers confidence.
A price set by bidding
At auction, competition between buyers sets the price. See our upcoming auctions, our past auction results and our latest news.
Get a valuation or sell your wine cellar
The value of a bottle depends on the estate and appellation, the vintage, the format, the fill level, the condition of the label and capsule, the original case, the storage conditions and the provenance. For a whole cellar, please attach a list of the bottles if you can (estate, vintage, quantity).
Our valuations are free, confidential and without obligation. Send us a few pictures (label, fill level, capsule) through our wine and spirits valuation form. You can also meet us in Fontainebleau by appointment, or during our valuation days. For an estate or a large cellar, we can also visit you at home. Payment is made about one month after the sale (see how to sell).
Frequently asked questions
How do I sell my wine cellar?
Start with a free valuation, based on a list and a few pictures. If you decide to sell, your wines are appraised, described and photographed, then offered in one of our online auctions. There is nothing to negotiate: the bidding sets the price.
How much is an old bottle of wine worth?
It depends on the château, the vintage and above all the condition: a low fill level or a damaged label lowers the value. A great, well-kept bottle can reach several thousand euros, and our best results exceed €30,000.
Can I sell whisky or spirits at auction?
Yes. Collectible whiskies, especially limited and numbered editions, feature in our auctions: a Johnnie Walker 1805 Celebration Blend sold for €19,800.
When are the wine and spirits auctions held?
Several times a year, online. Dates are announced in our auction calendar. Contact us early: each catalogue closes one month before the sale.
