1966 JAGUAR TYPE E 4.2 L COUPÉ (FHC) SERIES 1 - Lot 38
1966 JAGUAR TYPE E 4.2 L COUPÉ (FHC) SERIES 1 - Carte Grise Française de Collection - Serial number 1E33817 - 4.2L in-line 6-cylinder engine (XK) - The most accomplished version of the 1 Series (4.2L engine, synchro gearbox, comfort seats). - Overhauled in 2020: bill of over 7000€. Unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type revolutionized the automotive world with its sculptural lines and first-rate performance. In 1964, the model reached maturity with the introduction of the 4.2-liter engine. While power remained the same, torque increased considerably, and above all, the antiquated Moss gearbox was replaced by a fully synchronized Jaguar gearbox, radically transforming driving pleasure. The example we present, chassis 1E33817, is a 4.2-liter Fixed Head Coupé. It was delivered new to New York in November 1966. It sports one of the most elegant and desirable color combinations for a British GT: Gunmetal Grey bodywork combined with a Red leather interior. This configuration underlines the purity of the coupe's lines, while providing a warm, sporty ambience inside. The car was acquired by its current owner, a collector, in 2018. Prior to this acquisition, the car had benefited from a major restoration. Since then, it has been meticulously preserved and used, and is now in fine overall condition. An overhaul was carried out in 2020 at a cost of just over €7,000, and an appraisal report dating from 2023 is available on request. The paintwork has retained a beautiful depth, the chromes are sparkling and the red upholstery has a light, even patina. Mechanically, the 4.2-liter engine offers its characteristic smooth torque, coupled with a precise manual gearbox, making this coupe a formidable weapon for historic rallies or long drives. A perfect marriage between the aesthetic purity of the 1 Series and the mechanical pleasure of the 4.2L, this Coupé, in its Gunmetal/Red livery, represents the quintessence of "English Chic". 1966 JAGUAR TYPE E 4.2 L COUPÉ (FHC) SERIES 1 - French Collector's Vehicle Registration Document - Serial Number 1E33817 - Engine 4.2L inline 6-cylinder (XK) - The most advanced version of the Series 1 (4.2L engine, synchro gearbox, comfort seats). - Serviced in 2020: invoice for over €7,000 Unveiled in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type revolutionised the automotive world with its sculptural lines and outstanding performance.
