1968 MG B CABRIOLET - Lot 64
1968 MG B CABRIOLET No reserve Chassis n° GHN4 139117 French registration - Desirable MK2 - Mythical model - Rare European version At the London Motor Show in September 1962, MG presented the MGB, the MGA's replacement. Its design was more modern, tauter and more angular, with more contemporary lines. With the appearance of side windows in the doors, the MGB abandoned its pure roadster status to become a true convertible. Far less spartan than its predecessor, it offers a more spacious cabin, still strictly two-seater, but designed for greater comfort, without denying the sporting spirit dear to the brand. Elegant in town or country, the MGB seduces with its versatility and assertive personality. The engine's displacement has also increased, from 1,600 to 1,800 cm³, for even greater performance and comfort. This model was first registered on June 14, 1968. It is therefore a desirable MK2 version, which retains the charm of early vintages while benefiting from notable technical evolutions: fully synchronized gearbox, five-stage engine, alternator and heater as standard. Restored by its owner in the mid-2000s, this MGB presents itself today with a beautiful patina. Little used in recent years, a minor overhaul could be envisaged for greater peace of mind, although it is currently functional. A few points will have to be reviewed to obtain a valid technical inspection, notably perforating corrosion. With the exception of the MGC hood, the car's appearance is faithful to the original, perfectly embodying the timeless charm of the classic English cabriolet. 1968 MG B CONVERTIBLE Chassis no. GHN4 139117 French registration document - Desirable MK2 - Legendary model - Rare European version It was at the London Motor Show in September 1962 that MG unveiled the replacement for the MGA: the MGB. More modern, its design was sleeker, more angular and adopted a more contemporary look. With the addition of side windows in the doors, the MGB abandoned its status as a pure roadster to become a true convertible. Much less spartan than its predecessor, it offered a more spacious interior, still strictly two-seater, but designed for greater comfort without compromising the brand's sporting spirit. Elegant in both town and country, the MGB appeals with its versatility and assertive personality. Its engine also gained in displacement, increasing from 1600 to 1800 cc, bringing extra performance and enjoyment. The example we are offering was first registered on 14 June 1968. It is therefore a desirable MK2 version, which retains the charm of the early models while benefiting from significant technical developments: fully synchronised gearbox, five-bearing engine, alternator and standard heating. Restored by its owner in the mid-2000s, this MGB now has a beautiful patina. It has been little used in recent years, so a minor service may be considered for peace of mind, although it is currently in working order. A spot of perforating corrosion, a bearing and the brakes will need to be checked to obtain a valid MOT. Apart from its MGC bonnet, it is faithful to the original and perfectly embodies the timeless charm of the classic English convertible.
