1984 Honda sc16 Vf 1000 - Lot 145
1984 Honda sc16 Vf 1000 French collector's registration - Competition V4: 122 hp with gearbox distribution - Iconic HRC design: tricolor livery and fiber-reinforced racing fairing - Restoration: By a Honda specialist with period parts In the early 1980s, Honda established itself as the world leader in motorcycle innovation, with an increasing number of sporty versions of its V4s. Among these exceptional machines, the VF1000R perfectly embodies the spirit of competition applied to the road. Introduced in March 1984 for production race homologation, it was designed without compromise, following in the footsteps of the prestigious CB1100R. Derived from the already powerful VF1000F, the "R" version goes much further. Beneath a full carbon-fiber-reinforced fairing - a rarity at the time - lies a water-cooled, 998 cm³, 90° V4 engine capable of producing 122 hp at 10,000 rpm. The exclusive and costly cascade gearing ensures surgical precision and an unmistakable mechanical roar. Aesthetically, the VF1000R adopts Honda Racing Corporation's tricolour red, white and blue livery, with a streamlined rear shell covering the passenger seat, adding to its homologated racing machine look. The rest of the equipment confirms this ambition: adjustable aluminum handlebars, rectangular tubular frame, 41 mm fork with TRAC anti-dive system, 285 mm double floating discs and four-piston caliper brakes. Even the fork allows quick front wheel changes, a direct reference to the endurance pits. The model we're presenting today is a true collector's item. With 23,793 km on the odometer, this VF1000R has undergone a complete restoration by Ecko Moto, a brand specialist based in Alsace (Gersteim). The frame and body were completely repainted, and the restoration was carried out with new vintage parts, in full respect of the original model. This machine, apparently third-hand, has been ridden very little since. The total cost of the bike, including restoration, is €10,000. Routine maintenance was recently carried out (€200 in invoices): complete bleeding of brake and clutch circuits, electrical check, battery charge test, chain tensioning and lubrication,
