1971 Ducati 250 - Lot 140
1971 Ducati 250 Competition vehicle Sold without registration EX Rehault Achievements : 2nd at Montlhéry, Le Mans, 6 heures de Rouen This bike is the Ducati EX Rehault. It was built during the winter of 1971-1972 by Claude Reault (Brétigny sur Orge). It was driven by riders Daniel Pirovani and Jean-Claude Cloutier. The chassis was modified: double cradle frame with reinforced steering column; stainless steel bracelet handlebars; Marzocchi Racing rear shock absorbers and forks (supplied directly by the factory); 18 Borrani front wheel with 280 mm Grimeca 4-cam brake (modified); 18 Borrani rear wheel with 180 mm Fontana single-cam Magnesium brake. The exhaust has been modified to fit in the upper part of the frame. The fuel tank and backrest are in aluminum. The engine has been restored to like-new condition, and has since been used for only 2 demos. There are over €4,000 worth of parts in this machine, including: Carillo connecting rod kit, high-compression forged piston, high-flow oil pump, rebuilt cylinder head with valve, reinforced springs and dual ignition. New clutch with racing bell. All bearings are new, as is the carburettor. The bike had already set a record at Montlhéry at 250 km/h at 12,000 rpm. It's still as powerful as ever, but has been upgraded for more torque and fun down low, as well as to make it more reliable. In 1972, the bike won the following races: At the 10 Heures de Montlhéry, 5th fastest scratch time and 2nd in the 250s; At the 1000km du Mans, 2nd in the 250s; At the 6 heures de Rouen (circuit des essarts), 2nd in the 250s just behind the factory Suzuki 250; At the 4 heures de Montlhéry, 2nd in the 250s behind the factory Jawa; At the Bol d'Or at Le Mans, 2nd in the 250s. It's a Ducati from French competition, with an impressive track record. The bike has always remained in its original configuration, and has been entirely restored with passion and attention to detail by a former machinist, and is now ready to take to the track again. We have a period photo as well as a contemporary photo of the bike at Montlhéry with the two drivers Pirovani, Cloutier, their trophies and the preparer Reault, all 3 gathered around the bike and very emotional after all these years.sold as is.
