C 1967 Jawa type 670 - Lot 136
C 1967 Jawa type 670 Competition motorcycle without registration - Faithful replica of a legendary Grand Prix machine - 125cc V2 8-speed engine - 27 hp at 14,000 rpm - Ex-Hagensteijn museum, a rare example with a strong history In the midst of the Cold War, Eastern motorcycles struggled to make a place for themselves against the formidable competition from the West. Yet, in the shadow of the Iron Curtain, a few visionary engineers produced machines as daring as they were powerful. It was against this backdrop that JAWA unveiled the Type 670 in 1966, a 125 cm³ Grand Prix bike with astonishing technical features: horizontal V-twin, air-cooled two-stroke, 27 hp at 14,000 rpm, weighing just 83 kg. This factory bike served as the basis for the development of the famous 350 V4 Type 673, infamous for taking the life of factory rider Bill Ivy. Rarely produced, jealously preserved, the original Type 670s are hardly ever seen today - the only one known being carefully kept in a private collection. The model offered here is an exceptional replica made in the Czech Republic by Mr Stripacuk, a figure renowned in the industry for his meticulous work on Jawa racing motorcycles. Produced in very limited numbers and at great expense, this replica uses engine casings cast from the original molds, and reproduces the technical architecture of the racing motorcycle: double crankshaft, 8-speed gearbox, 4-cam front brake and 2-cam rear brake. This motorcycle is not registered and is reserved for competition or collector use. It also belonged to the Hagensteijn Museum in the Netherlands, renowned for its exceptional collection of Eastern motorcycles, particularly Jawa models. An absolute rarity and witness to an era when racing was as political as it was mechanical, this Jawa Type 670 embodies the audacity and genius of Czechoslovak engineering. A unique opportunity for an enlightened enthusiast of historic racing machines.
