1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa - Lot 41
1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa Chassis 05500552 French registration - Delivered new in France - Latest model evolution - The only car sold under the Pininfarina name - Without reserve Presented alongside the Fiat Dino Spider at the 1967 Turin Motor Show, the 124 Spider boasts elegant, dynamic styling by Pininfarina. Fiat stopped marketing the Spider 124 in Europe in 1975, but continued to do so in the USA until 1981. Fiat then ceased production of the Spider and handed over the rights to the model to Pininfarina, the brand's historic coachbuilder. Pininfarina decided to upgrade the model with a twin-shaft injection engine and modernize its design. The American bumpers of recent vintages were redesigned, and chrome made a comeback. The interior has been completely reworked, and finishes have improved significantly, with real wood veneers and fine leather upholstery. Given the success of this redesign, Fiat gave the go-ahead for this new model, renamed Spider Europa for the occasion, to be marketed throughout its European network. The example we present here was delivered on June 15, 1983 from the Fiat dealership in Auxerre, obviously as a demonstration model. Six months later, it was acquired by its first real owner, who kept it for 17 years. Originally red, it was repainted blue during this period. In 2010, it was acquired by another enthusiast in the Yonne region. He will carry out extensive work on it, including the hood. In 2021, it was acquired by its current owner. Since then, it has been repainted in red, its original color, the only concession being that an older shade than the original was chosen. It's a fine example of a model whose popularity is on the rise, an elegant yet sporty cabriolet thanks to its legendary engine! 1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa Chassis 05500552 French registration document Delivered new in France Latest evolution of the model The only car marketed under the Pininfarina name Presented at the 1967 Turin Motor Show, alongside the Fiat Dino Spider, the 124 Spider has a very elegant and dynamic design by Pininfarina.
