1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa - Lot 41
C’est un bel exemplaire d’un modèle dont la cote d’amour ne fait que monter, un cabriolet élégant mais sportif grâce à son légendaire moteur ! 1983 Pininfarina Spider Europa Chassis 05500552 French registration document Delivered new in France Latest evolution of the model The only car marketed under the Pininfarina name Presented at the 1967 Turin Motor Show, alongside the Fiat Dino Spider, the 124 Spider has a very elegant and dynamic design by Pininfarina. Fiat ceased marketing its Spider 124 in Europe in 1975, but it continued to be sold in the United States until 1981. Fiat then ceased production of the Spider and transferred the rights to the model to Pininfarina, the brand's long-standing coachbuilder. Pininfarina decided to develop the model with a twin-shaft injection engine and modernize its design. The American bumpers of the latest models were redesigned and chrome made a comeback. In the completely redesigned passenger compartment, the finish was much improved with real wood veneer and beautifully crafted leather upholstery. In view of the success of this redesign, Fiat gave the green light for the marketing of this new model, renamed Spider Europa for the occasion, throughout its European network. The example we have on offer was delivered on June 15, 1983 by the Fiat dealership in Auxerre, apparently as a demonstration model. Six months later, it was acquired by its first true owner, who kept it for 17 years. Originally red, it was repainted blue during this period. In 2010, it was acquired by another enthusiast from the Yonne department. He carried out a lot of work on it, including the hood. In 2021, it was acquired by its current owner. Since then, it has been repainted in red, its original color, with the only concession being that a shade older than the original was chosen. It is a fine example of a model whose popularity is only increasing, an elegant but sporty convertible thanks to its legendary engine!
