1947 CITROEN TRACTION 11 B - Lot 69
1947 CITROEN TRACTION 11 B Chassis n° 164592 Rare optional "Raoul" male French registration 16 000 / 20 000 Revolutionary! At the time, this was the best definition of the Citroën Traction Avant. With its well-designed monocoque body, four independent wheels and front-wheel drive, the new Citroën was on the verge of a technological breakthrough. In fact, it took over 20 years to build. It was Gabriel Voisin's former collaborator, André Lefebvre, who designed this icon of French automotive history. The Citroën "Traction Avant" was officially launched in May 1934 as a 7hp. As for the 11cv fiscaux, it appeared a few months later for the Paris Motor Show in two body styles, a small one, called the "11 Légère", and the "11 normale", 20 cm longer and 12 cm wider. On July 27, 1957, the last 11 CV leaves the factory under number 444 569, 23 years after the first. A rolling and very comfortable myth, the "traction" was used by General de Gaulle, Pierrot le Fou and the "traction avant gang". During the war, it was used by the Gestapo as well as the FFI. But its true vocation was to be a beautiful family car. Its comfort, reliability and good looks have delighted many generations. It has long been firmly anchored in the collective memory. As a sports car, the Lyon-Charbonnières Rally was also won on several occasions by a "traction" car. The model on offer is a 1947 model with the "Raoul" male, with a beautiful patina, and the paintwork appears to be original. 2nd hand, it has been in the owner's possession since 1986. Perfectly maintained, the test drive revealed no major problems. The brakes are recent, testifying to the meticulous care the vehicle has received throughout its life. 1947 CITROEN TRACTION 11 B Chassis n° 164592 Rare optional "Raoul" male French registration 16 000 / 20 000 Revolutionary!
