1982 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI 1800 - Lot 54
1982 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI 1800
Serial Number: WVWZZ17ZDW166024
French registration
300/ 500
Beautiful restoration project
Engine disassembled
The Golf GTI, a legendary car. On September 11, 1975, the Frankfurt Motor Show opened its doors with a major attraction on the Volkswagen stand: the Golf GTI. The "fastest Volkswagen ever", it was to be a bombshell. The Golf GTI, the idol of an entire generation, was a revolution in the automotive industry. Volkswagen, accustomed to curves with its Beetle, decided to follow the aesthetic standards of the time by creating a compact, sober car with taut, slightly aggressive lines. But where Volkswagen really came into its own was when it invented the name GTI: Grand Tourisme à Injection.
Delivered in November 1982, it wasn't until 1987 that our collector acquired it.
Although incomplete (the engine and some fittings are missing), this car deserves a thorough overhaul, so that, as in the 80s, it can take on the roads of France to the sound of Kim Wild or Tears for Fears.
