1999 ASTON MARTIN V8 VOLANTE LWB
1999 ASTON MARTIN V8 VOLANTE LWB Serial number SCFDAM2C0XBL89042 Delivered new in Germany Only 25 units in the world 27 000 km from new 2nd hand French title Aston Martin is surely one of the most fascinating car brands in the eyes and hearts of enthusiasts. Often passing very close to bankruptcy, it conceived many mythical models and must-haves in a collection worthy of the name. How not to evoke James Bond when talking about Aston Martin? Even if the connection is easy and often very quick when we evoke the brand, we can not undeniably separate the image of the manufacturer to that of the English spy who magnified more the different frames lent by the brand over the years and films. If it still has, today, such a particular aura, it almost disappeared forever in the 1980s when the group's finances are at their worst and when the price and the lack of reliability of the models slow down more and more the buyers. Farewell DB, hello V8; Aston Martin changes strategy by finding a new name for its models while changing the traditional mechanics: exit 6 cylinders in line British, and make way for the big V8 with American accents. It is in 1972 that the V8 series is launched on the basis of the DBS model to which we grafted an 8-cylinder 5.3l injection (carburetors for the USA). This engine was constantly improved and made more reliable until the 1990s when the new DB7 model revived the past by offering an in-line 6-cylinder or V12 engine in its new car. Under the Ford umbrella from 1987, production increases and becomes more industrial where Aston Martin was still a very artisanal brand. In 1997, a "new" Aston Martin was presented at the London Motor Show; it was a long-chassis version of the V8 Vantage Volante that could accommodate 4 adults comfortably in the soft leather seats of the cabin. If the car is aesthetically successful, it does not conquer the heart of the buyers because the price is astronomical: higher than a Rolls Royce Silver Seraph. The order book is not very full after the show. Only 67 buyers signed for an Aston Martin V8 Volante LWB that will be built in Newport Pagnell. Out of these few dozen orders, 25 will be in LHD configuration (left-hand drive) intended to cross the English Channel (or the Atlantic). If the beast is (very) heavy, it takes advantage of the 5.3L V8 that develops 349 horsepower in this version and that is not underpowered to move the 1900 kg of the convertible and launch it to 250 km/h or reach 0 to 100 in 6 seconds, which was not ridiculous at the dawn of the 21st century. Offered with a Chrysler 4-speed automatic transmission, it's the perfect car for long drives with the purr of the V8 but it's also rolling up your sleeves when you press the right pedal. Our car was first registered in Germany in March 1999 and has only had two owners. The current owner bought the convertible in 2003 and has kept it ever since. With less than 27,000 km on the odometer, it has been particularly well preserved, as evidenced by its aesthetic condition, both inside and out, which amazes everyone who sees it. A last important service was performed in March 2022 at L'automobile Paris: -Oil change and replacement of the oil filter -Replacement of the spark plugs -Replacement of the air filter -Replacement of the fuel filter -Cleaning of the radiator -Checking the belts -Checking the ignition coil -Brake system check -Lighting system check A must-have for Aston Martin and a true unicorn for collectors and enthusiasts, the beautiful English car has lost none of its superbness in 20 years. Don't wait to buy one of the most expensive cars in the world in its time.
