PAINTED PLACES ELEMENTS comprising four rectangular panels with polychrome decoration of foliage scrolls, squares, foliage garlands, decorated with love in grey medallions. Famous American industrialist Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919) millionaire at the age of thirty years old He built his fortune in the production of coke used by the steel industry. He bought the company: H.C Frick & Company in 1880 which quickly became the largest coke producing company in the world. A major collector, his collection is now grouped in his private mansion on Fifth Avenue, in New York under the name "lFrick Collection" and is now particularly interested in antique painting and French furniture. Acquired at the beginning of the 20th century and partly by the decorator Elsie de Wolf1. This bed then furnishes Adelaide Frick's room, his wife and the painting of the ceiling also allows a perfect harmony of this room. 1- The latter has among his rich clientele Conde Nast and Anne Vanderbilt, he also remains in constant contact with the famous antique dealer Jacques Seligmann. Many of his furniture was probably part of the collection of the fourth Marquise d'Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace.
