NOLHAC, Pierre de. *La Gazette de la Reine* for the year 178 - Lot 20
NOLHAC, Pierre de. *La Gazette de la Reine* for the year 1782. Paris: Éditions Historiques, 1925; large quarto, paperback, 4 folios, 20 pages, 24 plates, 3 folios, cover imitating pink silk, slipcase with a back and corners in havana morocco leather, ribbed spine decorated in the 18th-century style, slipcase. First edition of this high-quality facsimile, carefully reproducing the register of the Duchess of Ossun, the Queen’s wardrobe mistress. Pierre de Nolhac’s study is followed by several facsimiles of letters, but most notably by the facsimile of the register, in which the 78 fabric samples have also been reproduced on fine laminated silk. A splendid work of historical publishing, available only in a limited edition (200 copies). In perfect condition. The spaces where samples are missing were left blank during reproduction; therefore, they could not be reproduced—this does not constitute a defect. “Ex-dono” printed on a leaf mounted at the front: “Granted by special authorization to Mr. Victor Caron, fabric designer, on February 18, 1932.” Included: THEIMER, François. The “Royal Dolls” of the Court of Louis XVI. No place, 2006; in-4, 200 pp., publisher’s purple cardboard binding decorated with Marie-Antoinette’s gilded coat of arms.—Numerous black-and-white and color reproductions of clothing and dolls.—In the appendix, a most curious “Secret Cabinet.”
