1958 JAGUAR XK150 - Lot 119
1958 JAGUAR XK150 Serial Number: S831270 Classic car registration certificate - Sought-after SE model - 5-speed transmission and power steering - Same owner since 2007 - First car equipped with 4 disc brakes. - Numerous interesting upgrades to enhance the driving experience No Reserve Introduced in 1957 following the XK120 and XK140, the Jaguar XK150 stands out for its one-piece panoramic windshield, its roomier interior, and its modernized styling. Technically, it was the first to feature four disc brakes as standard equipment. It was offered with a 3.4-liter inline-six engine, derived from the race-winning engines used in the Type C and Type D models. This engine could be upgraded to the “SE ” (Special Equipment) specification, characterized notably by the use of three SU carburetors, which increase power output. Replaced in the early 1960s by the Type E, the XK lineup remains a benchmark for enthusiasts. The example shown here is an OTS (Open Two Seater) roadster in the 3.4-liter SE version, delivered in British Racing Green with a beige leather interior. After being owned by a collector from Isère from 1991 to 2007, this car came into the possession of its current owner. This car has undergone several technical modifications designed to make it easier to drive, carried out by the previous owner between 1991 and 2007. Although there are no associated invoices, these modifications are detailed in an expert appraisal report. A factory-original BMW 5-speed manual transmission was installed, along with hydraulic power steering, a stainless steel exhaust system, 4-piston brake calipers, an electric fuel pump, and an auxiliary fan. The 3.4-liter engine was also equipped with three SU carburetors. Inside, the original seats were replaced with bucket seats mounted on extended rails to improve interior space. These various modifications make the car easier to drive by alleviating some of its original limitations, notably through lighter steering, a more responsive transmission, and a roomier cabin. Since 2007, maintenance has been performed by specialists in the brand, including a service at AS Engineering in 2017 and the replacement of the master cylinder in 2023. The bodywork has undergone a beautifully executed vintage restoration, and its uniform patina lends the car an authentic charm. Today, the engine starts and runs properly. However, since the car has seen little use in recent years, we recommend a mechanical overhaul before undertaking any long trips in it. More accessible than ever, this 1958 Jaguar XK150 3.4L OTS SE combines its legendary styling with technical improvements that make it easier to drive, while retaining the charm of a beautiful patina. 1958 JAGUAR XK150 3.4L OTS SE Chassis number: S831270 Classic car registration document - Sought-after SE model - 5-speed transmission and power steering - Single-owner since 2007 - First car to be equipped with four disc brakes. - Numerous interesting improvements to enhance driving comfort Launched in 1957 following the XK120 and XK140, the Jaguar XK150 stands out for its one-piece panoramic windshield, its wider cabin, and its modernized styling.
