1955 SUNBEAM ALPINE - Lot 114
1955 SUNBEAM ALPINE Classic car registration certificate Chassis No. A3501425OD Engine No. RMSMR45 - Legendary model, featured in “The Man with the Golden Arm” - Highly sought-after, more advanced MKIII version - Elegant design The 1955 Sunbeam Alpine, in its Mk III version, is an iconic British sports car. Only 300 units were produced by Sunbeam-Talbot in the United Kingdom. Its elegant design and rounded lines reflect the style of 1950s cars. It features a four-cylinder engine producing approximately 80 chevaux. The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. It stands out in particular for its two-seater body and sporty character. The Mk III features several improvements over the earlier versions of the Alpine. It also competed in auto races and rallies during that era. The Sunbeam Alpine is a model made famous by Grace Kelly in the 1955 film *To Catch a Thief*. The example we are presenting is a highly desirable, more advanced 1955 MKIII version, right-hand drive with disc brakes. According to an expert report, this Sunbeam was restored in 1982 before being repainted in its metallic gray color in 2019. The transmission and engine are original, as is the running gear. Our example underwent a carburetor overhaul in October 2023, along with an adjustment and replacement of the ignition coil. Produced in very limited numbers, this Sunbeam offers a rare opportunity to acquire an icon of postwar British GT styling. 1955 SUNBEAM Alpine MK III Collector’s registration document Chassis no.
