1992 PEUGEOT 106 XSI - Lot 60
1992 PEUGEOT 106 XSI French vehicle registration certificate Chassis No. VF3741C66E5323310 French origin Restored in 2025 at great expense by a Peugeot dealer: 14,000 euros in invoices Iconic model Vallelunga Red No Reserve Launched in September 1991 as the successor to the 205 GTI, the Peugeot 106 XSI adapted the concept of the sporty city car to the environmental constraints of the 1990s. Its formula relied on a featherweight chassis weighing 860 kg paired with a 1.4L engine producing 100 ch, later a 1.6L engine producing 105 ch, all wrapped in a “chic and sporty” design recognizable by its fender flares and 14-inch wheels. Equipped with a particularly responsive and playful chassis, it represents a key milestone in the lineage of Peugeot sports cars and is now a sought-after “youngtimer.” The example we’re presenting is a 1992 Peugeot 106 XSI from 1992, in the highly desirable Vallelunga Red color. It underwent a restoration in 2025 by its owner, a Peugeot dealer, at a total cost of €14,000. This included, notably, the replacement of the fuel injectors, a repair to the transmission, a repaint, and an engine overhaul. These repairs are documented by invoices. Since then, the car has been used sparingly, only for a few events. It should be noted that in 2013, when the odometer read 200,000 km, it was replaced with one showing 165,000 km. Since then, the car has traveled only 2,000 km. We can therefore infer that its actual mileage is approximately 202,000 km. Today, 106 XSI models that have received such care are rare. Produced in far smaller numbers than the 205 GTI, the XSI is particularly representative of Peugeot’s production in the early 1990s. 1992 PEUGEOT 106 XSI Launched in September 1991 as the successor to the 205 GTI, the Peugeot 106 XSI adapted the concept of the sporty city car to the environmental constraints of the 1990s. There are very few 106 XSI models today that have been so well maintained.
