PART DE MÉNAGÈRE - Lot 31
PART DE MÉNAGÈRE in 950-thousandth silver, decorated with ribboned filets and foliage, monogrammed spatulas, including eleven forks and twelve table spoons, and twelve pieces of flatware. Marked: Minerve premier titre. Goldsmith: Maison PUIFORCAT (EP and one penknife). Weight : 3 163 gr. 9 small metal spoons by RAVINET D'ENFERT. In cases. (Traces of use) Note: Maison PUIFORCAT founded in 1820 by Émile Puiforcat, Joseph Marie Puiforcat and Baptiste Fuchs. Émile inscribed his maker's mark in 1857, which has remained unchanged over the years. He is based at 18 rue Chapon in Paris. The silversmith died in 1883, but his hallmark was used until 1927. In 1902, Fuchs's son-in-law Louis Victor Tabouret Puiforcat took over. In 1918, the famous Jean Puiforcat (1897-1945), son of Louis Victor Tabouret Puiforcat, took over the family business. It was thanks to him that the company became famous. He made a name for himself during the Art Deco period, then in modern goldsmithing.
