HEREKE IN SILK Turkey circa 1960/65 Velvet, warp, weft and silk bangs. Prayer-shaped rug. Gilded beige field decorated with a wavy mihrab and a stylized vase adorned with a bouquet of flowers and foliage delicately drawn in polychrome, surrounded by symmetrical trees of life in bloom. Pale sky-blue double spandrels with garlands of multicolored flower sprigs. Five borders, the main one in old gold, with rows of bulbs and polychrome floral buds in the form of stylized diamonds.
