GLAZED GLASS In colored glass, depicting two lansquenets, one in armor and holding a standard featuring the symbols of the Corporation of Blacksmiths of Bern, the other carrying a halberd; they frame the Corporation's coat of arms, surmounted by the inscription in Gothic leytres Eine Ehrende [Zunft]gesellschaft zu Schmieden 1588 (In honor of the Corporation of Blacksmiths 1588). Siege of a stronghold in the background. German-speaking Switzerland, Bern, in Renaissance style, 19th century H. 27 cm - L. 30 cm (some missing parts and restorations) This stained glass window probably comes from the hall of the Blacksmiths' Guild (Zunftgesellschaft zu Schmieden) in Berne. It may have replaced an original from 1588, which was damaged in the fire that ravaged the building in 1610. 37 x 30 cm
