ALMANACH ROYAL. Paris: Le Breton, 1776. In-24, (68) ff. in irregular quires, signed a7, b-c8, d5, e-i4, k3, l-n4, o2, p3, garnet morocco, spine ribbed, partitioned and fleurdelisé, boards decorated with a gilt framed plate with central medallion with coat of arms painted under mica surrounded by a mosaic decoration with gilt motifs, decorated edges, inner gilt roulette, gilt edges, blue tabis endpapers; lower head and corners restored (period binding). Pocket-sized abridgement of the Almanach royal, presenting the main personalities of the Court, the army, the royal administration and the clergy (Grand-Carteret, no. 127). EXEMPLAIRE RELIE AUX ARMES PEINTES DE LA FAMILLE D'AMFREVILLE, probably for André-Michel-Alexandre Poërier, comte d'Amfreville, marquis d'Auberville-La-Manuel. Born into a family of Norman parliamentarians, he was Captain of the King's ships, and Mayor of Rouen from 1770 until his death in 1779. However, because of his stance against Chancellor Maupeou's reform of the Parliaments, he was summoned to Versailles in 1772 and exiled to Haguenau until 1779, shortly before his death.
