"My dear friend, yes, I was stupid enough to break my right arm. I've been nailed down for five weeks now and I still don't know when I'll be able to work. It's glued back together but it's all ankylosed, so I need time and lots of massages... I think I'll stay here until the cold weather comes. It's a long trip, but I've got room for you and I'd love to see you. I'm with the young Manet and cousins. I'm walking around and eating, that's all..." Auguste Renoir goes on to give details of how to get from Paris to Essoyes: "...if you take the 8 a.m. rapid and something, you have time to see Troyes, very pretty churches...". Auguste Renoir broke his right arm twice, in 1880 and 1897. Joint: Vollard (Ambroise). Autograph letter signed to Teodor de Wyzewa. Paris, January 29, 1912. The art dealer announces that he has good news about the health of Auguste Renoir, who has undergone a new operation. The news comes from Gabrielle Renard, the painter's model and nursemaid to his son Jean.
