BONAPARTE (CAROLINE). - Lot 169
BONAPARTE (CAROLINE). Autograph letter signed "Caroline" to Grand Marshal Henri-Gatien Bertrand. [Probably Naples, May 1814]. 3/4 p. in-12 square on a bifeuillet of wove paper gilt on edges; foxing. "Monsieur le comte, I received your letter of May 11 and I thank you for giving me news of the Emperor. Please let me hear from him often. As soon as it is possible to pass on to S. M. what she desires, we will do so with alacrity; believe that IT WILL BE TOUGH FOR ME TO DO SOMETHING AGREABLE TO THE EMPEROR and that I will not lose a moment to provide her with what will please her as soon as it is possible. In the meantime, Monsieur le Grand Maréchal, I beg you to urge S.M. to take care of his health; pay him my respects, give me news of him often and receive, Monsieur le Comte, the assurance of my constant interest, I wish you to be well persuaded..."
