1980 Ferrari 308 GTB Carter Sec - Lot 72
1980 Ferrari 308 GTB Carter Sec French vehicle registration certificate Chassis No. 30731 French origin: delivered new from Pozzi Carter Sec version: the most powerful of the 308s (255 chevaux) Mechanical overhaul in 2025 The first European carburetor-equipped models produced through 1980 featured a dry-sump lubrication system (Tipo F106 AB), a technical feature derived from racing that lowered the center of gravity and ensured optimal oil pressure. Powered by four twin-barrel Weber carburetors, this original version produces 255 chevaux, making it the most powerful production 308 variant before the power reductions associated with the transition to electronic fuel injection (GTBi) and later to four-valve cylinder heads (Quattrovalvole). Chassis 30731 was delivered new by Charles Pozzi, the official French importer, in March 1980 to its first owner, a resident of the Paris region, who kept it until 1989. This car features an Argento exterior color paired with a black leather interior. In 1990, it was purchased from a Parisian dealer by a collector living in the Vienne department, who owned it for 27 years. It then became part of a collector’s collection in Auvergne before being sold to a new owner in 2021. Under this owner’s care, a major mechanical restoration program was entrusted to the specialized workshop Dino Sport at a cost exceeding 30,000 euros. The vehicle changed hands in 2025; at that time, a restoration of its undercarriage was undertaken, a process documented by a comprehensive photographic record. Finally, in 2026, a maintenance overhaul was completed at the LDO Racing workshops, including the replacement of the timing belts, the overhaul of the ignition system, and the replacement of all fluids. Distinguished by its Argento paint scheme and a clear history with only a few previous owners, it has just undergone a series of major repairs, including over €30,000 in mechanical bills at Dino Sport, a restoration of its underbody in 2025, and a timing belt overhaul completed in 2026 at LDO Racing. ERRATUM: Please note that the brakes will need to be checked. 1980 Ferrari 308 GTB Dry Sump French registration certificate Chassis No. 30731 French origin: delivered new to Pozzi Dry Sump version: the most powerful of the 308 models (255 horsepower) Mechanical overhaul in 2025 The first European carburetor-equipped models produced through 1980 featured dry-sump lubrication (Tipo F106 AB), a technical feature derived from racing that lowered the center of gravity and ensured optimal oil pressure.
