1960 Lancia Appia (Series 3) - Lot 44
1960 Lancia Appia (Series 3) WITHOUT RESERVATION Collector's registration Serial number: 80807 - 70427 - Series 3 Sedan, 1090 cm³ - Clear history from the very beginning (Belluno, 1960) - Complete mechanics, running engine: ideal basis for restoration Introduced in the late 1950s, the Lancia Appia Serie 3 represents the technical culmination of a model central to Lancia's post-war revival strategy. True to the Turin-based brand's engineering tradition, the Appia retains the remarkable narrow 1,090 cm³ V4, an architecture dear to Lancia for its compactness and balance, combined with a rigorous monocoque structure and a level of finish that exceeds the standards of its class. The third series benefits from significant evolutions, with power increased to 48 hp, optimized braking and modernized styling, while retaining the understated elegance characteristic of Italian sedans of the early 1960s. A model of transition between the rationality of the post-war era and the stylistic dynamism of the following decade, the Appia Serie 3 embodies a demanding automotive design, where assembly quality and technical coherence take precedence over ostentation. The example on offer, serial number 80807 - 70427, was delivered new to Belluno on August 29, 1960, and has a particularly clear and continuous history. Sold in 1965 to Mr Angelo Matteo, still in Belluno, it passed into the hands of Mrs Flabane Stephana Caterina in 1966, then to Mr Meneguz Ives in 1975. In 1983, it was acquired by Mr Molin Vigilante, before being sold in 1999 to Mr Trevisan Carlo, then in 2001 to Mr Facchinello Alvise, originally from Treviso. Put up for sale by a Belgian professional in 2004, it was acquired the same year by its current owner, who had a certificate of conformity drawn up in Trappes in 2006, enabling him to obtain a French collector's registration certificate a few months later. Mechanically, the car retains its Lancia 1,090 cm³ engine, which is unblocked, starts and runs, although it should be serviced before regular use. Following the technical inspection at the beginning of March 2026, the vehicle is subject to a counter-inspection for the following reasons: insufficient performance of the service brake, play noted in the steering linkage, tires to be replaced, presence of corrosion at the front and rear of the vehicle, and a hole in the exhaust system is noted. The bodywork and paintwork are in need of repair, while the interior is in a satisfactory state of preservation, apart from visible wear on the driver's seat. The trunk lock is now missing, but this does not prevent it from being opened or locked. Also supplied are a car radio discreetly installed in the glovebox to preserve the original aesthetic, the spare wheel, two Michelin studded tires mounted on painted rims, and two service manuals. Together, they form a coherent whole, with a rare traceability, and a restoration by a passionate collector could easily restore it to the shape and appearance it had when it left the factory. The description of the vehicle is based on information provided by the seller, who remains solely responsible for its condition. The House of Osenat verifies their consistency. 1960 Lancia Appia (Series 3) Collectible registration certificate Serial number: 80807 - 70427 - Series 3 Sedan, 1090 cm³ - Clear history since origin (Belluno, 1960) - Complete mechanics, running engine: ideal base for restoration Introduced in the late 1950s, the Lancia Appia Series 3 represents the technical culmination of a model central to Lancia's post-war recovery strategy.
