1947 CHEVROLET Fleetmaster - Lot 38
1947 CHEVROLET Fleetmaster - Collector's registration - Serial number: 138507 - 6-cylinder in-line engine - Convertible bodywork Produced for three years in the aftermath of the war, the Chevrolet Fleetmaster was the car that marked the resumption of civilian production by the American brand after the war effort. Introduced in 1947, this model is largely based on the 1942 model, both aesthetically and mechanically. Positioned in the upper middle of the range, it is available in several body styles, all based on the same chassis, ranging from sedan to coupé, and including of course the cabriolet. Stylistically, the Fleetmaster is the archetypal American car of the early post-war period: all curves, with an abundance of chrome and a few reminders of the world of aviation. The example we present is a Chevrolet Fleetmaster convertible delivered new in the USA in 1947. The color scheme is simple and distinguished, with a pale yellow body and ivory interior. The interior displays a patina marked by time, and the paintwork also retains the elegant traces of its history. The car was acquired by its current owner in 2015. Work was carried out in 2023, including a mechanical overhaul with intervention on the steering, a partial overhaul of the braking system and various routine maintenance work (invoice available). Powered by a 3.5-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine and a 3-speed manual gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted shifter, the Fleetmaster is designed for both long and short trips, with comfort as its top priority. The description of the vehicle is based on information provided by the seller, who remains solely responsible for the condition of the property.
