18th-century ITALIAN COLLECTION, after Agostino MASUCCI (1690-1758) Portrait of Pope Benedict XIV (1741) Oil on canvas 100.5 x 76.5 cm Restoration and lining Commentary: This painting is a partial copy (reduced to a bust) of a portrait of Pope Benedict XIV Lambertini (1740-1758) executed in 1741 by Agostino Masucci (1691-1758), of which the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome holds a version and which was engraved in the same year 1741. There are several versions of this 1741 portrait, one at the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome, the other at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
