PICOT, embroiderer to S.M. L'EMPEREUR et ROI. - Lot 244
PICOT, embroiderer to S.M. January 1, 1814. One page signed by Picot. 40 x 25 cm. B.E. 300 / 400 € History: The first valet de chambre wore a green French suit with gold embroidery on the collar and facings, a white casimir vest, black breeches and silk stockings. With a few differences in the embroidery, this was the same costume worn by the ushers, the valets de chambre de toilette and d'appartement and the wardrobe boys. Constant, first valet de chambre under the Empire, evokes that this habit was only theoretical and that civilian clothes were sometimes used.
