1955 AC Aceca Ford V8 302 engine - Lot 91
1955 AC Aceca Ford V8 302 engine French registration Chassis n° AEX542 - Rare Aceca, coupé version of the famous Ace - Sophisticated interior, attractive appearance - Powerful 4.3-liter Ford V8 Introduced in 1954 and priced well above the Jaguar Type E, the AC Aceca was the closed version of the famous AC Ace roadster. A true British GT, it offered an elegant, well-appointed interior, with independent suspension and aluminum bodywork. However, distribution remained confidential, with only around 300 examples produced. The model offered here is distinguished by its Ford 260 ci V8 engine (4.3 L), which gives it particularly enthusiastic performance. Delivered new to American importer Michell & Pauli on December 30, 1955 in "Opal Blue" with black leather upholstery, the car disappeared from the radar until the early 1970s. Following a collision, it was dismantled for restoration. New bumpers were even manufactured at AC's Thames Ditton plant and installed in 1976. It wasn't until 2012, however, that it reappeared in Arizona, where the restoration was finally completed. In the meantime, a powerful Ford V8 was fitted and the car now sports its current "Sterling Metallic Gray" paintwork. Purchased at auction in Monterey in 2015, it was then entrusted to the specialist Classic Garage, south of Paris, for a series of modernizations: installation of electric power steering, front disc brakes, a larger electric fan, two fuel pumps and a 60-liter fuel tank. The total cost of the work is €21,840. The interior also features a Tripmaster. Combining the vigor of a Cobra with the refinement of a rare, discreet and elegant coupé, this Aceca is a unique proposition, capable of seducing enthusiasts and astonishing the most discerning connoisseurs alike.
