Jacques POLI (1938-2002) Untitled, 1991 Oil on canvas Signed and dated lower right Signed and dated on reverse 54 x 65 cm; with frame 55 x 66 cm Provenance : - Galerie Jeanne Bucher, Paris Jacques Poli is a French painter. He trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Avignon, then continued his training in Paris in Roger Chastel's studio. He rubbed shoulders with contemporary artists such as Daniel Buren, who encouraged him to turn to a more figurative style, which he gradually abandoned. His work covers a wide range of subjects, including the landscapes of Avignon, freeways, tools and machines, Baroque architecture, parakeets and imposing New York buildings. His work has been shown in major retrospectives, notably at the Villa Tamaris in La Seyne-sur-Mer, which showcased some fifty works spanning several decades. In 1990, Galerie Jeanne Bucher devoted a monographic exhibition to him entitled "Peintures récentes".
