1987 BMW M3 E30 - Lot 67
1987 BMW M3 E30 Chassis no. WBSAK050401892232 - Original German - French registration - Interesting original options Large file of invoices The M3 E30 inaugurates a now-legendary lineage. The engine, designed by Paul Rosche, is a direct descendant of the legendary M10. This 2.3-liter in-line four-cylinder develops 200 hp in its road version, enabling the M3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach 240 km/h. This mechanical architecture is a direct inheritance from the BMW M12/13 engine, which in its turbocharged version won the 1983 Formula 1 World Championship with Brabham and Nelson Piquet. This block remains famous for being the first turbocharged engine to win an F1 world title, capable of developing over 1000 bhp in qualifying configuration. This exceptional pedigree gives the M3 a unique technical character among production sports cars. The model presented here was registered on April 16, 1987 in Germany, then the Federal Republic of Germany. Exported to Spain in November 1996, it was decatalyzed to increase its power to 200 hp, like the French versions of the time. In 2015, it benefited from a body restoration before being acquired by its current owner at an auction in 2019. The latter has embarked on a major maintenance program: complete overhaul of the timing system, replacement of the water pump, spark plugs, complete clutch (disc, mechanism and release bearing), installation of a large-capacity aluminum radiator - the original element is supplied - to ensure reliable regular use. The leather interior, an original option, is in good condition with an even patina. Original equipment includes electric sunroof (mechanism to be overhauled), electric windows and 16" BBS wheels. The car has less than 145,000 km on the clock. This well-maintained M3 E30, with its unique world-beating engine, represents a rare opportunity to gain access to one of the most distinctive sports cars of its era, which also left its mark on rally stages. 1987 BMW M3 E30 Chassis no.
