The Montesa Cota 49 was born in 1972 to give young children who had started out with the Cota 25 a motorcycle that would continue to grow with them, but of course also to provide the brand's first trials bike. A joint production with a more "cross" version, the Montesa Scorpion.
The Montesa Cota 49 was produced from 1972 to 1981, and its design followed that of the 247. This 2-stroke single-cylinder bike cubed 48.7cc and featured a three-speed gearbox. Top speed 40 km/h
