This drum was viewed by Mr. Guillaume LECOESTER, Curator of Heritage and Head of the 19th Century and Symbolism Department at the Musée de l'Armée. "Indeed, we have an identical drum in the Museum's collections, from the "2e régiment des grenadiers de la garde impériale", which is not on display. It is therefore kept in the reserves of the Musée de l'Armée at Satory. On the drums of the Imperial Guard during the Second Empire Jean Guillaume PARICH, Musée de l'Armée: "We can confirm that this type of piece, authentic, complete and in relatively good condition, is quite rare. Indeed, a regiment of Imperial Guard grenadiers included two drums per company, i.e. 48 drums for the 2nd regiment from 1854 to 1865, then 42 drums from 1865 to 1870."
