1966 Ferrari 330 Gt 2+2 - Lot 78
1966 Ferrari 330 Gt 2+2 Chassis: 8635 GT - 35 years in the same hands - Mythical model - Desirable Series 2 Introduced in 1964, the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 embodies Maranello's revival in the family Grand Touring segment. Heir to the success of the 250 GTE, it adopted a prestigious 4.0-liter V12 engine developing 300 hp, directly derived from the legendary 400 Superamerica and 330 TRI LM, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 1966, the Serie 2 brought the model up to date: the front end abandoned the four headlamps in favor of two more classic headlamps, giving the line a more elegant appearance. The side gills were also redesigned and more sculpted, while a new 5-speed gearbox significantly improved driving comfort over long distances. This technical and aesthetic evolution makes it today's most sought-after version of the model. The model shown is a Serie 2 that left the factory on May 30, 1966. Originally delivered in blue, it reappeared in the 1980s in Normandy in silver. In 1983, it was acquired by a Parisian enthusiast who regularly used it for rallies and historic events. Gradually abandoned, the car was retired in 2002. In 2018, it was returned to the hands of its current owner, who undertook a complete overhaul, with the emphasis on preserving its original features. Today, this 330 GT is presented in authentic condition, virtually unchanged for over 40 years. The paintwork, which shows traces of this past, will need to be revised. The V12 works, contributing to the driving pleasure. The car has undergone a technical inspection, which revealed, among other things, some play in the steering. With its sober lines signed Pininfarina, its real habitability and its performance, the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Série 2 is aimed at connoisseurs sensitive to the car's raw charm or eager to restore this automotive myth to its former glory.
