Lorraine, along with Sarreguemines, had been the duchy abandoned by Stanislas LESZCZYNSKI to France in 1766, while the Archbishopric of Trêve had been annexed by Jourdan in 1794, on behalf of the Convention. This portrait was presented in 1797 by General LEVASSEUR to Wilhelm DERSCHEID, appointed by Bonaparte as Inspecteur Général des eaux et Forêt du département de Rhin et Moselle, and resident in Trêve. When a branch of the Boch family moved to La Louvière, he managed a new factory there (cf. also the artist Anna Boch). Work in temporary import The buyer will have to pay import fees of 5.5% in addition to the hammer price, unless the buyer immediately re-exports the lot outside the European Union.
