1925 René Gillet Type G - Lot 128
1925 René Gillet Type G N° 1067 French registration - 750cc twin-cylinder with generous torque - Living history: 2 Irish TT rallies - Equipped with a ready-to-ride sidecar René Gillet is one of the great figures in French motorcycling history. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, the brand has established itself as a benchmark for powerful, reliable motorcycles, often chosen by the army, police or official services for their robustness and endurance. The Type G, an emblematic model of the interwar period, perfectly reflects this philosophy, with its 750 cm³ V-twin engine designed to swallow up the miles with ease, even in sidecar configuration. The example on offer here is a machine that hasn't been stuck in a garage, but has been on the road. It took part in two editions of the Munster Irish TT, in 2019 and 2022, each time covering around 900 kilometers over four days on its own. This René Gillet is equipped with a new fuel/oil tank, recent beaded tires and a rebuilt magneto. The accompanying sidecar completes the package, ready to take on a passenger or equipment. A rare blend of rolling heritage and functional machine, this Type G will appeal as much to enthusiasts of old-time mechanics as it will to those who love long hitch rides.
