1977 Benelli SEI 750 - Lot 113
1977 Benelli SEI 750 N°BC7752 Carte Grise de collection No reserve - Mythical six-cylinder - Refined Italian design from the 70s - Additional parts supplied At the end of the 1960s, Europe's motorcyclists witnessed a revolution coming from Japan: Honda's in-line four-cylinders became the new standard. In response, Benelli opted for boldness. In 1972, at the Milan Motor Show, the Italian firm presented a motorcycle without equal: the Benelli SEI, the world's first production six-cylinder motorcycle. The fruit of Alejandro De Tomaso's takeover of the brand, this model embodied a clear determination to impose a luxurious, sporty European response to Japanese domination. The 750 SEI version, launched in 1974, uses the revolutionary in-line six-cylinder engine derived from the Honda CB500 block, but reworked to offer a slimmer, more elegant engine. Its narrow lines, triple exhaust on each side and unique sound immediately made an impression. More than just a two-wheeler, the SEI is a manifesto of Italian know-how, combining performance, style and rarity. The model offered here, dated 1977, comes in beautiful condition, with MARZOCCHI shock absorbers. It is accompanied by a set of stock parts that are invaluable for maintenance or restoration: a pair of original, unbranded shock absorbers, a new chain kit, three carburetor sleeves and an old clutch. Witness to an era when excess rhymed with elegance, this Benelli SEI 750 is today a sought-after collector's item, combining mechanical prestige with Italian exclusivity. We recommend that future purchasers carry out the usual restarts required by the immobilization of these machines in the collector's museum.
