Rare demi-brigade standard pike, - Lot 64
Rare demi-brigade standard pike, 1794 à 1804. In gilded brass, with a median ridge, on a truncated cone-shaped socket. With its yellow and green braided cordelière, with two silk thread tassels, en suite. It is accompanied by a fragment of a period flag tie, in red and white silk, protected by a net. First Republic-Directory-Consulate-First Empire period. B.E. for the pike and the cordelière. As is for the tie fragment, a most interesting souvenir. The silk and passementerie parts are faded. History:These pikes were also in service under the First Empire until 1807, waiting to be replaced by the eagle for all regiments that had not yet received it, or for those that received it later. Bibliography: Pierre Charrie, "Drapeaux et étendards de la Révolution et de l'Empire", Copernic, 1982, hors texte plates on the trimmings on the flags of the demi-brigades.
