During the reign of Louis XV, copper services were highly prized luxury items, often used in royal and aristocratic courts. These services, generally comprising cauldrons, basins, dishes, buckets and other utensils, were manufactured with exceptional skill, and often decorated with complex ornamental motifs. The Manufacture des Gobelins workshop and metal craftsmen were responsible for their creation, sometimes adding silver or gold elements to underline the richness and refinement of these objects. Copper services were not only practical items, but also symbols of prestige and grandeur.
