René FAVRIAU (1921-2019) - Lot 120
René FAVRIAU (1921-2019) Canvas poster for the Grand Prix Automobile des Sables d'Olonne 1953 Printed by Marcel DELHOMMEAU - Les sables d'Olonne Signed lower right René FAVRIAU 59x40cm Notes : While the first edition of the Grand Prix des Sables d'Olonne took place in July 1951 - won by André Simon in a Simca-Gordini T15 - the third edition in August 1953 was won by Louis Rosier in a Ferrari 500, ahead of Louis Chiron and young English rookie Stirling Moss in a Cooper. The seaside town of Les Sables D'Olonne, which used to host this Grand Prix de France automobile event, stopped organizing it in 1957, a victim not only of the town's urban growth, but also of disasters such as Le Mans 1955.
