Poodle" mascot, by Mademoiselle Blanche LAURENT (1877- ?) - Lot 85

Poodle" mascot, by Mademoiselle Blanche LAURENT (1877- ?) Rare silver-plated bronze mascot, signed BL Laurent, numbered 27-4123, mounted on a stopper numbered 53702. Issued and produced for the Hermès catalog between 1921 and 1925. Notes: While this mascot is often attributed to Georges Henri LAURENT (1880-1940), it turns out that the artist's work is in an art deco style quite different from that of Mlle Blanche LAURENT, who made many other automobile mascots approaching the style of our "poodle". Moreover, the signature on the ball "BL Laurent" leaves no doubt as to the attribution of this mascot to the artist Blanche LAURENT - a student of Denis Puech at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1901, became a Sociétaire des Artistes Français, where she was awarded the Honorable Mention 1904, and the médaille 3e classe 1908.
