Notes :
Bugatti Type 40 #40812 was specially designed and bodied for the centenary of French Algeria, for the second Saharan Rally - Algeria - Niger - which took place between February and March 1930. It was delivered to Paris on February 1, 1930 with the number plate 1650-WWF, before obtaining its definitive number plate 5837-EG, presumably in the hands of Marquis Armand Marie Joseph IHTIER HORRIC de la MOTTE St GENIS. Built like pick-up trucks, the three Bugatti cars entered in this rally drove through the dunes in the footsteps of Lieutenant Loiseau, who had already achieved this feat the previous year, in 1929. Following the Raid du Sahara 1930, #40812 was delivered to Monsieur Robert Henri on November 19, 1930.
