Charles Henri POURQUET (1877-1943) - Lot 10
Charles Henri POURQUET (1877-1943) Rare cast bronze plaque presented to Louis RENAULT (1877-1944) by the staff of the Renault factories on the occasion of his appointment as Officer of the Legion of Honor: "Hommage du Personnel Ouvrier et Employé à Monsieur Louis Renault à l'occasion de sa nomination au grade d'officier de la Légion d'Honneur - Officiel du 6 septembre 1918". The 1914/1918 war effort provided by Louis Renault is symbolized here by the allegory of the helmeted Ré publique accompanying a Renault FT17 tank bringing down the German eagle, while in the air rises a Renault aircraft and the famous 155 mm cannon is surrounded by Poilus leaving for battle. In its original case, 15x11.5cm, monogrammed GL. 12x8,1cm Museography: An identical plaque is preserved in the guest book of the Musée Renault in Boulogne-Billancourt - "Louis RENAULT - Histoire du Fondateur" room. Notes : Erich Ludendorff (1865-1937) - German General during the First World War: "The French had the rare fortune to find a great general; this general was called Louis Renault".
