Jean-Marie Pigeon (born 1951) - Lot 12
Jean-Marie Pigeon (born 1951) Hergé, The Blue Lotus. Tintin and Snowy in the jar. Rare polychrome resin sculpture, author's copy. Made in the 80s. Numbered EA 2/8 Approx. 125 cm high, 60 cm wide. With its certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. In very good condition (small chips in the base, tip of Tintin's hat and Snowy's ear, some wear to the jar). Trained in the Applied Arts, Jean-Marie Pigeon soon became interested in lacquer and modeling techniques, and frequented comic strip authors such as Margerin and Denis Sire (with whom he formed a rock group). He is also a member of the Mickson BD soccer club. He began working on sculptures in elastomer and resin, then went on to study at the Beaux-Arts while continuing to model. In 1975, he tackled comic strip characters with his sculpture of Mandrake the Magician. He continued with popular characters (Pierrot Gourmant, Banania...) and his first Tintin figure appeared in 1977. Tintin au mouchoir", Mitsuhirato, Milou dans le sarcophage, Didi, Tchang, et consorts were all virtuoso sculptures, veritable museum pieces, perfectly retranscribing Hergé's universe in volume, and part of a varied range of creations, including numerous official commissions from the world of comic strips, which met with great success. @Imaginatio SA
