1969 Rolls Royce Corniche - Lot 274
1969 Rolls Royce Corniche French registration Chassis CRX6625 1967 saw the introduction of the Silver Shadow cabriolet, the fruit of a new partnership between Rolls-Royce and London coachbuilder H.J Mulliner Park Ward. Its widely acclaimed comfort is characterized by the suppleness of its suspension, the silence of its V8 engine and its equipment (air conditioning, car radio, power steering, electrically adjustable seats, electrically operated soft top...). This Rolls-Royce convertible changed its name from Silver Shadow to Corniche in March 1971. Numerous improvements were made over time. This symbol of British elegance and prestige is in demand everywhere, and is exported all over the world. The example we are offering for sale was purchased new by a famous conductor from the Crewe factory, and was left-hand-drive. The car was delivered to him in this configuration, and as soon as it was delivered, it was taken directly to the South of France, where it remained for the rest of its life until the previous owner, a Norman, acquired it. The current owner acquired it in 2023. Since its acquisition in 2023, a major overhaul has been carried out, with more than €17,000 in bills. The work includes an engine oil change and replacement of the oil filter, as well as a gearbox oil change and replacement of the strainer and associated seals. The gear selector speed seal, the gearbox capsule and the water box hose under the gearbox were also replaced. Other notable interventions included replacement of the front engine mount, two fuel pump hoses and eight spark plugs. The non-compliant emission control system was removed, and an electronic ignition with a new coil was installed for improved reliability. Belts were replaced, and cosmetic improvements were made, including the fitting of a right-hand front mirror and replacement of the left-hand front window. The car also benefited from special attention to the heating system, with the replacement of the heating motor, as well as the bleeding of the brakes. A complete overhaul of the braking system was carried out, with the removal and replacement of hoses, calipers, discs and pads, as well as the rebuilding of the rear calipers. Finally, the two pressure accumulator spheres were recharged. Thanks to its rich history and rigorous maintenance, this Rolls-Royce Corniche is ready to offer its future owner a great adventure. The only drawback is that the old paintwork shows slight crazing where the soft-top cover used to be.
