Launched at the end of July 1978, the CBX Z was a bomb. Available in candy red or silver-grey with matte-black side covers.
At a time when all the major manufacturers were fighting to offer their customers the best-performing four-cylinders, Honda, somewhat outstripped by the competition in terms of pure performance, wanted to regain its supremacy... After imposing the famous 750 four a decade earlier.
The first model (CBX Z) is fitted with Comstar aluminum wheels.
The engine is smooth from 2,000 rpm and furious up to 10,000 rpm, giving Honda the fastest motorcycle of the moment, with a top speed of 220 km/h.
We owe this monument to engineer Shoichiro Irimajiri (the instigator of the Honda-6 250 GP RC164).
The bike is presented in beautiful, unrestored original condition.
It will need to be restarted in order to pass the technical inspection.
