Just as in the previous decade with the four-cylinder CB 750, Honda stunned the world once again in the 1970s with the introduction of the super-touring Gold Wing, the provocative six-cylinder CBX 1000. Launched in 1978, it wasn't the first modern six-cylinder - Benelli's 750 Sei preceded it by two years - but it was the biggest and fastest. The CBX could reach 210 km/h and could run the 400 m from a standing start in around 12 seconds. But for most buyers, the pure performance of the CBX was less important than its mere presence on the road. Even today, few motorcycles can match its charisma, visual appeal and, above all, its noise.
Imported into the UK and first registered there in 1997 as the CBX 6T, this model has become an essential classic. The bike was purchased by Aled Jenkins in 2001, having previously belonged to a certain Andrew Roch of Bristol and, before him, to Michael Pollard of Wells (Somerset). The enclosed documentation also includes a file of invoices. It has been in this collection for 20 years and comes with its French collector's registration.
We recommend that future purchasers carry out the customary restarts due to the immobilization of these machines in the collector's museum.
