LE CLERC: Pratique de la géométrie sur le papier et sur le terrain ou par une méthode nouvelle et singulière l'on peut avec facilité et en peu de temps se perfectionner en cette science. Jolly, 1669. In-12 19th c. vellum (paper sometimes browned, brown stains, restorations to several leaves, half-title partly detached, ex-libris stamp "A.B." on one ff.). Faux-title and 82 engraved figures. First edition. This influential treatise on geometry was written by Le Clerc (1637-1714) for all tradesmen who used drawing, and is primarily a practical treatise for practical use. Geometric figures are presented among architectural decorations, figures and rural scenes. In addition to being a famous engraver, Le Clerc was an engineer-geographer, a professor of perspective, and was admitted to the Académie as a painter; he also wrote a treatise on architecture. Louis XIV appointed him engraver to his cabinet. From the Bib Raymond de Plantin de Villeperdrix.
