1990 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Etienne Aigner -... - Lot 71 - Osenat
1990 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Etienne Aigner - No reserve - Series 15ZLK031564 - Uncommon special series - Good condition - VW certificate - French registration Erratum: the clutch is excessively worn and will be replaced after the sale at the seller's expense. In the 70s, Volkswagen was considering a replacement for its mythical Beetle convertible, which was proving an unqualified success. So the decision was made to open the Golf, the brand's great innovation. In 1979, the brand launched the Golf cabriolet, designed and produced by Karmann. It was an immediate success, so much so that this Golf cabriolet, based on the classic Golf, remained in production until 1994, 11 years after production of the sedan had ceased. The model presented here is a 1990 Etienne Aigner special series. The Etienne Aigner series was produced in a single year, with just 3,000 examples distributed between Europe and the USA. This makes it one of the rarest series of the Golf Cabriolet. It's also very well equipped, with a 98 hp 2H 1.8-liter fuel-injected engine, five-speed manual gearbox, special wheels and paintwork, and a plush interior in the same tone as the body, with leather inserts and alpaca soft top. Our model was delivered new to the Buckeburg dealership in Germany on July 23, 1990. It remained in Germany until the mid-2010s, when it was shipped to the Netherlands until 2023, when it was acquired by its current owner. Since then, the timing gear has been replaced and the mechanics overhauled. This Golf is in good overall condition, with a clean body and interior. The soft top is in good condition, despite two small dents. 1990 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Etienne Aigner -No reserve - Series 15ZLK031564 - Uncommon special series - Good condition - VW certificate* - French registration In the 70s, Volkswagen was considering a replacement for its mythical Beetle convertible, whose success had not waned.
