RARE FRANKENAU'S PATENT REVOLVER PURSE. - Lot 78
RARE FRANKENAU'S PATENT REVOLVER PURSE. Curious nickel-plated metal and leather purse with two compartments: - one compartment containing a five-shot 5 mm pinfire revolver with retractable trigger and crowned "G" hallmark. - a separate coin compartment. 105 x 70 mm. B.E. Patent of 1877. This is an example of a weapon invented during the period when gunsmiths were at their most imaginative in designing curious system weapons. This weapon is nothing more than an ordinary short-barreled revolver housed in a steel-armored coin purse. This piece is one of the rarest system weapons, especially in good condition. Bibliography : Oscar FRANKENAU, inventor in Liège, patented this model in 1876 and August 1877 in the USA, Great Britain and Germany.
